Among the earliest weapons turned for use on the diamond, this Mains & Dolly (41.8-oz/36-1/4”) side-written lumber was employed by former Major Leaguer Roy Brashear during his post-big league years in either the American Association or Pacific Coast League. The war club has a deep brown finish and exhibits heavy use with surface marks throughout, checking about the barrel and an H-shaped handle crack. The handle crack and back barrel have been secured by vintage batboy nails. Following the bat’s demise, a grease pencil notation was placed on the barrel to request production of duplicate examples. Of this side writing, “Brashear” remains visible upon close examination. Additionally, there is a lathe mark on the Hornsby-style knob. Auction LOA from John Taube, PSA/DNA.
