Smack in the middle of an unprecedented run at five successive World Series titles, the 1951 New York Yankees experienced a changing of the guard as Joe DiMaggio’s departure coincided with Mickey Mantle’s arrival. This eye-appealing display showcases the autographs of (43) of that Bronx installment’s principals. Framed to dimensions of 33x41 under attractive “pinstriped” matting, the autographed index cards are symmetrically arranged around a black-and-white team photo and 1951 Yankee Stadium-issued program. The signatures average (“8”) strength and clarity and include: Bauer, Berra (1953 Topps #104, signature “3” strength), Brideweser, Brown, Byrne, Cerv, Coleman, Collins, Courtney, Crosetti (coach), Dickey (coach), J. DiMaggio (“7” strength), Henrich (coach), Hogue, Hopp, Houk, Jensen, Johnson, Kramer, Kuzava, Lopat, Mantle (“9”), Mapes, Martin, McDougald (1955 Bowman #9), Mize (“10”), Morgan, Nevel, Ostrowski, Overmire, Raschi, Reynolds, Rizzuto (“10”), Sain (1953 Topps #119, signature “4” strength), Sanford, Silvera, Schallock, Shea, Stengel (manager, “8-9”), Turner (coach), Wiesler, Wilson and Woodling. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentications.
