Last in both home runs (52) and on-base percentage (.331), the 1940 Washington Senators suffered 29 one-run defeats as a result. The offered baseball is autographed by (17) members of that pre-war D.C. squad. The lightly toned unofficial sphere (grade 4-5) has sporadic applications of period shellac and features black-ink signatures that average (5-6) strength and clarity. Includes: Sweet Spot: Welaj; North Panel: Hudson, Evans, Early, Lewis and Case; South Panel: Walker, Bloodworth, Sanford and Krakauskas; West Panel: Travis, Pofahl, Monteagudo and Carrasquel; East Panel: Bluege, Leonard and B. Harris (manager). Full photo LOA from James Spence Authentications.
