Supplanting the Yankees as baseballs dynasty, the 1929 Philadelphia Athletics won their first of three successive pennants and two straight Fall Classic titles. The offered OAL Barnard sphere was signed by (17) members of that formidable roster. The lightly toned orb (grade 5) is affected by a series of light surface abrasions but still has vibrant red-and-blue laces. The black-ink fountain pen signatures, meanwhile, have dimmed over time and range from (4-5) to (2) in terms of strength and clarity. Among the legible scriptings are those of Collins (2-3), Foxx (2-3), Grove (sweet spot, 4), Haas (3), (3-4, affected by abrasions), Miller (4), Rommel (2-3), Simmons (2-3) and Summa (4-5).
