Beloved in the Bay Area as his fence-clearing exploits powered the Giants to the National League’s best record in the 1960s, Hall of Famer Willie McCovey has remained a franchise fixture since his retirement in 1980. The offered Giants road jersey was worn and signed by McCovey as he served in a mentor capacity in 1986. This gray knit button-down garment features the proper orange-on-black twill identifiers (detailed on our website). Executed vertically on the right front, McCovey’s blue marker signature projects (“7-8”) strength. The left front tail is home to a “Wilson” label, a size “44” flap tag and a swatch with chain stitched identifiers of “44 86.” The all-original diamond apparel shows light wear and was likely worn by McCovey as an extra coach during spring training. Full photo LOA from Dave Miedema (for jersey).

The jersey's identifiers include “SF” sewn to the left breast in black-on-orange double twill, “44” sewn to the back and “McCOVEY” arched on a name plate atop the number in like fashion. Additional features include black piping surrounding the cotton-lined collar and button path; and black-orange-and-white striped stretch ribbed knit along the sleeve endings.
