Undeterred as he approached the age of 39, Jerry Rice departed San Francisco and its championship legacy, heading across the Bay to add to the winning tradition of the Oakland Raiders. While hauling in 83 of his NFL-best 1,549 receptions and scoring nine of his record 208 touchdowns, Rice wore this Raiders helmet. Showcasing the vaunted “Silver and Black,” the thick plastic shell features the club logo decal on each side and Rice’s familiar number “80” flanking the black center stripe (at the base of the helmet) in black block-style decals. To the left is an NFL logo badge decal, and to the right, an American flag decal was adhered in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. A “Riddell” snubber is situated just above the two-bar face mask, and on the right side, Rice’s black Sharpie autograph (inscribed “#80”) projects (“9-10”) strength and clarity. The interior is lined with foam padded cells and ear pads, as well as an “80” decal near the left ear hole. The battle-tested headgear is unaltered and shows evidence of game use in the form of scattered scuff marks about the outer shell and perspiration-induced discoloration on the padding. Full photo LOA from Grey Flannel Collectibles (for helmet authenticity) and cert/hologram (#F51767) from JSA (for autograph).
